Nov 20, 2013 A device driver attempting to corrupt the system has been caught on windows 7. The faulty driver currently on the kernel stack must be replaced with a workin. The trap can either be bound, where the kernel is not permitted to catch it, or a double fault, where simultaneous faults result in system failure. In the Stop code, the first parameter displayed on the blue screen indicates the trap code. In Windows, all drivers are in separate files, distinct from the kernel. In Linux, drivers are one type of module. You can have all device drivers as modules, some built into the kernel and some left as modules, or all built into the kernel. You are trying to load a kernel module (noticeable at the.ko extension) as a software module (typically.jar or.so) Those.ko modules have to be compiled together with the kernel. You can't load them with a command, they have to be loaded by the kernel. Oct 20, 2009 Hi, I’m running windows vista home premium 32 bit on my laptop, it’s been running fine up to a week ago, till I did what I usually do, I put my pc in sleep mode and so I can start it up quick, but.
Kernel stack overflows are a common error in many cases reported to us bycustomers. These are caused by drivers taking up too much space on the kernelstack. This results in a kernel stack overflow, which will then crash the system withone of the following bugchecks:
Each thread in the system is allocated with a kernel mode stack. Code running onany kernel-mode thread (whether it is a system thread or a thread created by adriver) uses that thread's kernel-mode stack unless the code is a deferred procedurecall (DPC), in which case it uses the processor's DPC stack on certain platforms.
The stack grows negatively. This means that the beginning (bottom) of the stack hasa higher address than the end (top) of the stack. For example, let's say the beginningof your stack is 0x80f1000, and this is where your stack pointer (ESP) is pointing. Ifyou push a DWORD value onto the stack, its address would be 0x80f0ffc. The nextDWORD value would be stored at 0x80f0ff8 and so on up to the limit (top) of theallocated stack. The top of the stack is bordered by a guard page to detect overruns.

The size of the kernel-mode stack varies among different hardware platforms. For example, on 32-bit platforms, the kernel-mode stack is 12 KB, and on 64-bitplatforms, the kernel-mode stack is 24 KB. The stack sizes are hard limits that areimposed by the system, and all drivers need to use space conservatively so that theycan coexist. When we reach the top of the stack, one more push instruction is goingto cause an exception, which in turn can lead to a Stop error. This could be either asimple push instruction or something along the lines of a call instruction that alsopushes the return address onto the stack.

Faulty Driver On Kernel Stack Page![]()
I've owned a 2010 13' Macbook for a little over a year and throughout that time have often downloaded files from sites like MediaFire and RapidShare without any problems. However in the past few months, initiating downloads from these sites has triggered a seemingly increasing number of kernel panics.
The last report is posted below. As you can see it blames kernel_task for a page fault which I understand is a somewhat notorious issue - kernel_task eating up virtual memory leading to page faults and panics - so I have a general idea of what is going on.
Find Faulty Drivers
Unfortunately I am not really sure how to handle this on my own. Does anyone have any advice?

I would guess that it is related to Symantec since it looks like that is the kernel extension that crashed. I would try uninstalling and reinstalling Symantec.
